barbieri | architects is an architecture firm founded by Carlo Barbieri, with over 40 years of experience in the design, management, and supervision of building and systems projects. The firm operates across various fields, including new construction, renovation, urban design, restoration, and interior design, while also offering consultancy services for building construction and management.

Carlo Barbieri (1961) graduated in 1986 from the IUAV in Venice.
His training was further enriched by his experience at the engineering design studio Pietro Barbieri, where he deepened his expertise in integrated building-system control.
Since the early 1980s, he has specialized in energy diagnostics for buildings and production processes, as well as in high-efficiency design.
He studyied bioarchitecture and furthered the concept of environmental sustainability, gaining significant international experience.
His design approach, defined as “responsible design,” stems from these insights. This method aims to assess the real needs and meet them in an intelligent way, respecting the surrounding context and environment.

He has won numerous architectural competitions and received awards for his commitment to sustainable design. His projects have been published in books and specialized journals and showcased in various exhibitions. He has actively participated in international forums focused on sustainability, high energy efficiency, and restoration. As an expert in sustainability, he has lectured at IUAV and in various professional courses. Since 2014, he has collaborated as a professor and speaker with PHILA-U (Philadelphia University College of Architecture and the Built Environment, Philadelphia, USA) and with several universities and schools in Bogotá (Colombia), including Universidad del Rosario, CESA (Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administración), and UTADEO (Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano).
