RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL COMPLEX [113]
Schiavon (VI), Italy
2500 m² 8000 m³
design: 2002 – 2005
built: 2006 – 2009
The residential and commercial complex was created as part of a redevelopment plan aimed at revitalizing a central urban area. During the 1970s, warehouses of poor architectural quality were built alongside historic buildings, disrupting the harmony of the historic environment.
The project seeks to enhance the row of buildings overlooking Piazza Risorgimento, restoring the existing structures and replacing the old warehouses with new constructions that feature a contemporary architectural language. In the inner part of the complex, the new buildings are characterized by simple volumes and cladding in black cement bricks and plexiglass, creating a distinctive contrast with the historic structures.
A shared staircase core, equipped with an elevator, connects both the new buildings and the existing ones, ensuring optimal accessibility. The staircase also provides access to the flat roof, where solar energy systems are installed, contributing to the complex’s energy efficiency.
Additionally, the new buildings are equipped with ventilated façades, improving thermal insulation properties and ensuring occupant comfort.
The buildings facing the square host commercial spaces on the ground floor, with warehouses located at the rear. The upper floors are dedicated to residential units, designed to offer both comfort and functionality.
The underground level, accessible via a ramp, includes parking garages, technical rooms, and service spaces.
