status:  ongoing

Casa de la Esperanza, located in Cajicá, Colombia, is a care center for women with physical and mental disabilities, managed by a religious congregation active across South America.

The current facility, hosting 70 residents, will be transformed to accommodate up to 140 people, ensuring functionality, safety, and optimized spaces.
The project combines sustainability and innovation through the MoSS (Sustainable Social Model), developed with Colombian universities and schools to promote self-sufficiency and efficient resource management. Designed to be replicable, the model integrates the local community, providing shared spaces and services.

Local materials, such as clay for bricks, and the reuse of excavated soil minimize environmental impact.
A rooftop garden integrates solar energy, rainwater harvesting, vegetable gardens, beekeeping, and cultivation, green therapy for residents’ rehabilitation.
The gardens provide fresh, local food for the center and the community, supporting a circular economy.
The building is designed to reduce energy consumption using advanced insulation and an off-grid photovoltaic system, crucial in an area with unreliable electricity.
The construction is divided into two phases to ensure the center remains operational throughout.

This project serves as a example of sustainability, technology, and social commitment, improving the lives of residents and the surrounding community.
