The two-family vacation home is located in the coastal area of Jesolo Lido, Venice, and has undergone a complete renovation with an extension. The pre-existing building, a two-story house, held significant sentimental value for the clients, as it had been their family’s summer home since childhood. However, the surrounding urban context had changed dramatically, with the addition of new multi-story buildings that altered the area’s aesthetic quality.

To shield the house from the surrounding environment of lower architectural quality, a metal-framed architectural element was designed to function as a “screen/filter.” On the west façade, supported by a wall that preserves the footprint of the original building, it houses the staircase leading to the first-floor apartment. On the south façade, supported by pilotis, it creates a private area for outdoor living. Designed to allow the passage of air and light, the structure emphasizes the horizontality of the building’s façades.

The building, designed for high energy efficiency, is heated and cooled using hydronic heat pumps, with solar collectors planned for the roof.

On a portion of the flat roof, a gravel layer has been installed to filter and neutralize rainwater. This system includes a 5,000-liter storage tank, allowing the water to be recycled for secondary uses, such as irrigation.
